Innovative Teaching in Action: CHU and NTHU Host EMI Teaching and Learning Conference

On February 21, Chung Hua University (CHU) and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) proudly co-hosted the Interactive and Dynamic Teaching & Learning Conference at CHU, welcoming 48 educators from across Taiwan and beyond for a day of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.

The event brought together 18 presenters from diverse academic backgrounds to showcase hands-on strategies for active learning, group-based tasks, and classroom interactivity. Demonstrations and discussions emphasized how these methods are transforming student engagement and raising teaching standards across higher education in Taiwan.

Participants explored long-term professional development pathways, including the CERT PT and Master Trainer qualifications, and gained deeper insight into Trinity College London’s CERT PT programme, now available through CHU, NTHU, and Yuntech. These internationally recognised credentials are helping institutions build in-house expertise and reduce reliance on external trainers.

Attendees came from leading universities such as Feng Chia University, Kaohsiung Medical University, China Medical University, and National Pingtung University, among others. Professional development centers like LTTC and the NTHU EMI Center also contributed valuable perspectives on enhancing instructional quality.

From rethinking materials design to strengthening professional learning communities, the conference reinforced that interactive teaching is not a passing trend; it is a necessary shift toward learner-centered, up-to-date, and globally relevant education. Educators left inspired, equipped, and eager to bring new energy into their classrooms.
